Tourism – The neighbourhood of Waldmünchen (Waldmünchen webcamera) is a paradise for more and less demanding tourists. The local undulating countryside with woods, meadows, and picturesque houses invites to trips. You can stroll in the Bavasian Forest, or bike across the border to Cerchov with the stony view tower, which is a favourite hiking target.
You can follow the Napoleon's Route, or many other marked paths.Our hotel is often the starting point of German tourists – so called Wandergruppe, who are on their way up to 14 days so called Goldsteigweg, and wander around the picturesque Bavarian Forest.
You will be touched by the virginity and beauty of the nature. The reason is not very complimentary. In the recent times there led the Iron Curtain dividing two worlds, and the woods stayed untouched by the civilization to the present.

Bikers will be pleased, the conditions are ideal. There are lots of tarmac roads. A big plus is that the cycling traces are not overcrowded, not even during the holiday months. The lightly undulating countryside, but also more demanding peak places will satisfy active sportsmen as well as holiday bikers, who can choose flatter outings along the river or the lake.

A big attraction of our town is the local aquapark -Aquafit. You do not have to travel to more remote water paradises (e.g. Amberg – aprox. 75 km), and you are sure not to be disappointed. You will be satisfied and leaving with the feeling of spacy pools and attractions not crowded with people – see photogallery. You children will be surely obliged to you for the water pleasures. They will find the spiral chute suitable even for small children, and a pool with a minislide for babies and toddlers. Adults can relax in a calm atmosphere and the salty whirlpool with additional iodine where you can get massaged the aching parts of your body by the use of underwater jets. There are also the sauna and the solarium. It must be added that the aquapark is often valued as a great programme for rainy days. The prices are also interesting – 3,60 euro / 90,- Kc for 1,75 hrs.

In summer we recommend the local lake Perlsee, which is a favourite vacation spot with fun for children and adults – e.g. treddles, children's playground.
Nearby there is another attraction – the new Rope Climbing Centre with lots of interesting and braveness proving sport activities.
We recommend a visit at the miniranch, where your children can safely take a ride on ponies, and then whole the family can play minigolf.
From the small one we invite the adults to a big golf course. It  is 9 km far, has 9 holes and a golf school, which is open from April to November.
If you want to make your children's souls happy or to enjoy yourselves on a number of attractions – go to Churpfalzpark, 25 km far from Waldmünchen, you will not regret. This grand fun fair allures to a wholeday visit. When for a lump-sum (about 375,- Kc / 1 person) one can entertain themselves to one's heart's content. The first openning day  is 31. 3. 2012.

Nordic-walking enjoys high popularity.
Country specialities are for the Czech visitors Aqua-Flowing – by the means of passive movement in water directed by an assistant you will reach deep physical and soul relaxation – and a visit at the Health Court in the spirit of agrotourism.

Every Thursday you can step up to the top of Waldmünchen Tower and enjoy the view. Do not forget about the ruins of the castle Schwarzenburg. The Border and Trenck Museum is also worth mentioning.
During the year youcan experience various community events and holiday celebrations, religious as well as secular ceremonies – the Upper Paletinate Dialect Festival, Kohlenmeiler Celebrations, the Pilgrimage on Horseback to Ast, Guttensteiner, Pandoor Trenck – a great amateur theatre performance about a historical event, in which local people take part.
The Waldmünchen candle factory is another place of interest. You can buy a nice souvenir for yourself or your close ones.

In winter months take a chance to use white tracks for cross country skiing in the Bavarian Forest and overborder paths to the Czech Republic. For down-hill skiers there are a skiing premises (5 km from Waldmünchen) – suitable for beginners ( one day ticket costs about 200 Kc) – the further skiing slopes are in Voithenberg (some 9 km far), and Hohen Bogen (27 km far) with a chair lift, skiing slopes and facilities of high quality, and a  toboggan run. If there is little snow, it is used artificial.

Horse-riding with a longe, horse-riding (also under supervision), half / one day scamps, courses, hurdling, pony-riding... and much more.

Calm ponies and school horses from 90 cm to 180 cm. You can arrange riding in a group or alone.

Museum in Waldmünchen

On the area of its three floors the Boreder and Trenck Museum shows cleatly and in vivid colours its main topic - „ life at the border“ and „pandoor Trenck“. The squire Franz von der Trenck and his pandoors served the Empress Maria Theresia during the war of the Austrian throne heritage. In 1742 they besieged the town of Waldmünchen.

Since 1950 the wellknown festive performance reminds of the historical event. The fact that Waldmünchen is situated near the Czech-German borders has had and still has a great influence on the history of the town. Relationships between the neighbours always affected in a large extent the town development. After the fall of the „Iron Curtain“ and opening the border in 1990 created new perspectives. A visit of the exposition is an adventure: inscenations, life-sized photographs, sounds, films, light effects, and computer technologies promise varied and vivid way through history.

The museum is open from 15th March to 31st October, and from 15th December to 15th January every Tuesday, Saturday, Sunday and holidays.
